What Is The Acceptable Temperature For Urine Test?

One of the most important checkboxes while having a drug test by urine is the temperature, it plays a big role in the detection of drug presence in urine. There is a standard temperature till which the contents of urine remain preserved. Apart from temperature, there are several other factors that determine the life of urine components like the container in which it is kept, time till which it is preserved and etc.

Whether it be a business wishing to screen an applicant or law enforcement needing to ensure someone isn’t violating the terms of their probation, they will usually use the services of a medical laboratory which does a standard screening for amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, MDMA (ecstasy) and its metabolite, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, phencyclidine (PCP) and propoxyphene, synthetic cannabinoids (“K2/Spice”) and synthetic stimulants (“Bath Salts”).

Temperature For Urine Test

Urine which has to be tested should have a temperature between the range of 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Which is 32 to 38-degrees in celsius.  Immediately after the donor provides the urine specimen to the collector, including specimens of less than 30 mL but greater than 15 mL, the collector will measure the temperature of the specimen. The temperature-measuring device used will accurately reflect the temperature of the urine specimen and not contaminate the specimen. The time from urination to temperature measurement should not exceed 4 minutes. If the temperature of a urine specimen is outside the range of 90 °F to 100 °F (32 °C to 38 °C), that is a reason to believe the donor may have altered or substituted the specimen.

There can be times when your urine is hotter which means above the acceptable scale. This can be due to your body’s high temperature. Urine is usually the same temperature as your body, this is why you must have noticed that the container feels warm when you collect urine for examination. It stays at that temperature outside for about four minutes and changes after that if it is not kept in special containers prescribed by laboratories.

Urine temperature rises with your body’s temperature. In a certain condition of high body temperatures like when you have a fever or you’ve done an intensive workout or any activity that makes your body sweat and makes you feel hot can also make your urine hot. To avoid any scope of doubt during a drug test, it is important to notify the lab or examiner prior to the condition. This is the reason why several labs take body temperature before urine temperature. To match both of the temperatures and avoid any errors. Another cause of hot urine can be a urinary infection, in this condition your urine is a few celsius hotter than your body’s temperature. You can also detect it if you find your urine cloudy.

No, drinking cool water is not going to drop your urine temperature. If you are suffering from addiction or come across drugs once or twice it is brave of you to get tested and seek treatment.

Can You Microwave Urine For Drug Test

There are different approaches present today on the matter of microwaving urine. But the discussion begins with the mere question of why it has to be microwaved? If someone wants to microwave it just for fun’s sake then it’s actually gross as the same microwave will be used for heating food. On the other hand, several people think that microwaving urine can change test results which is also a wrong attempt.

Can You Microwave Urine For Drug Test

Plus it is not a smart trick to microwave urine because the initial step of doing a drug test by urine is to check its temperature which has to be between the range of 90 Fahrenheit to 100 Fahrenheit. If the temperature, when checked comes out to be more than the specified range that is a reason to believe the donor may have altered or substituted the specimen. No, it is not enhancing any content and should not be done intentionally.

A false impression has been put out there which makes people believe that a drug test can be forged if the urine is microwaved before. Which is not only stupid and senseless but also a crime in the eyes of law. It is impossible to even carry out the task as usually for the collection of urine samples a brief time is given along with a specified bottle for collection. If in that period someone plans to microwave the sample in a different container and then put it in the container given for a drug test. It’s next to impossible and also a fowl act in the eye of law.

Being clean and away from addiction is the best feeling in the world and it’s just a drug test away. It’s not easy that is a fact but for once try to think of the consequences your body faces due to such practice. You can suffer from cancer, paralysis even death if the practice is continued and remains untreated.  It is never too late to start, take a step today and you are never going to regret it.

Drug addiction has already ruined several households and continues to ruin several even this minute. If you are unwantedly getting inclined toward the use of drugs it’s better to reach out for help and get treated than hiding and forging to save yourself. It takes easy medication and rehab to completely be free from the trap. If you are afraid of shame, then there is none as people who find addiction are known as warriors. You always have a choice and it is up to you what choice you make.

How Long Can Urine Be Stored At Room Temperature For A Drug Test?

The rising drug abuse is like rust in the wheels of a developing society. Harming society every day more and more. The drug has ruined several lives and households and continues to do so even today. According to WHO some 31 million persons suffer from drug resulting disorders every year and draining a big piece of their family’s income into their care and medication. Making drug abuse a drain of economy and happiness.

Several times youngsters mistakenly fall into the vicious trap of drug use and due to a handful a lot of others are blamed for the same. Firstly it is important to stay away from such malpractice but if you think someone is going down that lane then counselling and a simple drug test can clear out the picture for you.

Drug test is usually done by extracting blood with the help of a syringe. The process is authentic but another painless and easy option is a drug test by urine. A urine drug test, also known as a urine drug screen or a UDS, is a painless test. It analyzes your urine for the presence of certain illegal drugs and prescription medications.

urine temperature

The urine drug test usually screens for:

  • Amphetamines
  • methamphetamines
  • Benzodiazepines
  • barbiturates
  •  Marijuana
  • Cocaine
  • PCP
  • methadone
  • Opioids(narcotics)

A urine drug test can help a doctor detect potential substance abuse problems. After a drug test identifies drugs you may be misusing, doctors can help you start a treatment plan. Taking urine drug tests throughout substance abuse treatment helps to ensure that the plan is working and that you’re no longer taking drugs.

Transportation, and Preservation of Urine Specimens, In general, chemical preservatives should be avoided for urinalysis. NCCLS recommends that urinalysis be performed within two hours of collection. If this is not possible, the urine specimen should be refrigerated as soon as possible after collection. The length of time a specimen can be held under refrigeration for adequate preservation has not been agreed upon different urine constituents remain unchanged under refrigeration for different lengths of time. Generally, the urinalysis should be completed within six to eight hours of collection. Decomposition of urine begins within 30 minutes; therefore, ideally, urine should be examined within this time.

Urine left at room temperature for more than two hours is usually considered unacceptable for examination. Refrigeration is generally adequate for constituents encountered in the routine urinalysis, with the exception of bilirubin and urobilinogen, which are labile to both heat and light

There are urine preservation tubes commercially available for both urinalysis and culture that are said to preserve urine up to 72 hours without refrigeration. They are generally screw-on cap, leak-proof polypropylene tubes with conical bottoms and skirted freestanding bases, and each contains a preservative tablet such as mercuric oxide. The capacity of the tube is limited as little as 10mL.

Age of the collected urine is less than 2 hours, still it can stay longer if kept in the right kind of tubes which are made only for the purpose of urine of urine storage and extend its life to nearly 72 hours.
